  • I migrated to a new comoputer, which had a marvelous new version of MSIE installed -- but NOT a copy of MS Frontpage Express! So I went looking for a copy of said MS Frontpage Express. I found one: http://www.123ecommerce.com/frontpage-express.htm The problem I have is one of trust. I have never heard of this person/company before. For all that I know, the version being offered might be virus- or trojan-ridden, or it might simply be a version which is incompatible with Windows XP Professional (which is my new OS). What I'd like to do is to post an inquiry to one or more appropriate newsgroups, asking the posters if they have had any experience with this site, particularly the Frontpage Express (especially in relation to WinXP Pro), and whether their experience was good, bad, or neutral. Can you give list me a few (preferably 4 or 5) newsgroups where such a question would be appropriate and on-topic? In the alternative, if you are actually able to answer the question directly, that would be fine, too -- e.g., if by chance the you (the answerer) use WinXP Pro and have actually downloaded this program, and used it problem-free for, let us say, a year, that would pretty much settle the matter! I decided to offer $30.00 because if MS had SOLD the program (in fact, it was originally offered free) my guess is that this is about what they'd probably have charged for it; therefore, this is probably a reasonable amount.

  • grandrascal... I downloaded both the copy from the link you provided and the copy proffered by clint34-ga. They match the one already on my computer. The second version includes one additional file, Fpxpress.ico, which is an icon file. Both are version 2.0.2.1118, and are virus free, as is the copy I have on my PC. I run Windows 2000, and Windows XP is essentially the same system, besides which this program does not involve itself with the registry. It is a standalone program, operating entirely via the use of the files in its own directory. If my word that it has never presented a problem satisfies your interests in posing this question, let me know, and I'll post a formal answer. sublime1-ga

That will do very well! Post the answer, and I'll accept it. You earn the $30.00, thank you! :)

  • grandrascal... Thanks very much for confirming my input as your answer. I'll re-post it here for the sake of future readers. ------------------------------------------------------- I downloaded both the copy from the link you provided and the copy proffered by clint34-ga. It is a standalone program, operating entirely via the use of the files in its own directory. Due to its independence from system files, compatibility issues are even more unlikely.
