They keep asking, parents?

  • I am recently divorced at 51 years old. I am lucky to still have both of my parents alive and in good health for their age. My mom keeps asking me to come home and live with them. I do visit often but would never come home to live I moved out 30 years ago. She keeps asking saying she needs help and could use me around the house. I do help out when I visit but cannot move in with them. How do i make them understand that at 51 I cannot live with them, it is just not in my better interest.


  • well if you want to be "selfish" and its for "your" best interest just keep doing what your doing,
    but if you appreciate them and don't take them for granted because alot of people ddon'thave there parents at that age, live with them or have them move in with you, make there last few years wonderful,
    and so that'll yyou'llhave a guilt free cconscious


  • my aunt is also in the same situation as yours. what she did was, since her parents [my grandparents] were really forcy. she explained to them that shes not in the right age to be with them in the same house as before. though it did feel sad for my grandparents cuz they really miss their daughter much. even my aunt says shes busy my grandparents makes ways and alibis so my aunt could go to my grandparents house. so what my aunt did.. she made a schedule of when she would go my grandparents house. and she said that they shouldn't be so forcy since she also has a busy schedule to handle.
    it did made my grandparents a bit sad but just made them understand the real situation goin on. they'll get use to it.

  • Honestly, I don't know if you can make them understand that. Once they latch onto a thought that's just the way it is. I would advise to continue to do what you do, maybe see them more if possible and continue to let them know that you won't be moving in but that don't stop the love you have for them.
